ILRI is part of the CGIAR. ILRI’s mission is to work at the crossroads of livestock and poverty, bringing high-quality science and capacity-building to bear on poverty reduction and sustainable development for poor livestock keepers and their communities. ILRI’s research is directed to address 7 global livestock development challenges : i) Vaccine and diagnostic technologies for orphan animal diseases ; ii) Animal genetic resources ; iii) Climate change – adaptation and mitigation ; iv) Emerging diseases ; v) SPS and market access within broader market opportunities for the poor ; vi) Sustainable intensification in smallholder crop-livestock systems ; vii) Vulnerability of marginal systems and peoples.
