IITA, based I Nigeria, is supportd by CGIAR. They work to enhance crop quality and productivity, reduce producer and consumer risks, and generate wealth from agriculture. They work on the following crops : cowpea, soybean, banana/plantain, yam, cassava and maize. IITA conducts research on the following thematic areas : Biotechnology and genetic improvement, Natural resource management, Social science and agribusiness, and Plant production and plant health.
