The Chairperson of the African farmers' organization calls for the processing of local goods

Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) - The South African, Dr Theo de Jager, Chairman of the African farmers’ organization has urged Friday in Abidjan, the African countries to "work for the transformation in order to produce more wealth."

"Africa must be a competitive region through what it produces, and transforms," said Dr Theo de Jager in the Ivorian economic capital, where are held consultations of civil society organizations (OSC) taking part of the 29th regional conference of the Food and agriculture Organization (FAO).

For this Pan-African leader in the agricultural world, "Ivory Coast is a good lever, and a good example," because they"diversify" their crops productions. "The cap should be placed on the transformation", he insisted.

Some 397 delegates, including 51 ministers of agriculture of the continent, international organizations and the headquarters of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) are expected to attend the 29th session of the Regional Conference Africa that opens Monday in Abidjan around "the transformation of African food systems for inclusive growth and shared prosperity."
