NEPAD publishes nutrition map in Africa

NEPAD) -African Heads of State and Government are committed to achieving the goals of the 2014 Malabo Declaration which recognizes that agriculture and food security are key determinants of nutrition and require coordinated and comprehensive responses to Other sectors, such as health, education, labor, social protection, as well as collaborative collaboration with multiple stakeholders.

While it is well known that Africa is home to half of the arable land available in the world, Africa as a continent still suffers disproportionately from hunger and from hunger-related diseases such as stunting or malnutrition .

In the margins of the 13th Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program Partnership Platform (CAADP PP) in Kampala, Uganda, the NEPAD agency published the first edition of its Nutrition Map in Africa. This map is a tool that shows the continent’s hot spots in terms of hunger, malnutrition and food security. The map also shows the increase in the prevalence, less covered, of diseases of rich countries on the continent such as obesity and diabetes.
