On the initiative of the Heads of State of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), a project for the creation of a regional shipping company is being prepared for the development of the blue economy in the countries of the community.
This company called "SEALINK" will allow greater integration of the states of the community at the regional level by promoting trade. It will also serve as a palliative for the shortcomings of this sector and as a complement to the services offered by international road, air and sea transport companies. In addition, this regional shipping company will be a link between the West African capitals and those of Central Africa.Estimated at $ 100 million, this project is supported by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Union (FEWACCI). In this budget, Togo will contribute with a sum of 500,000 dollars. To this end, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Togo (CCIT) has initiated sensitization sessions targeting economic operators and investors in order to present the contours of the SEALINK project as well as its multiple advantages.
