CIAT

CIAT’s mission is to reduce hunger and poverty, and improve human health in the tropics through research aimed at increasing the eco-efficiency of agriculture. CIAT’s activities deal with three main research areas, each of them including several programs : i) Agrobiodiversity research area (including : Genetic resources program ; bean program ; tropical forages program ; cassava program ; rice program ; nutrition initiative ; seed systems under stress) ; ii) soils research area ; and iii) Decision & Policy Analysis (including : climate change ; ecosystem services ; linking farmers to market ; impact assessment ; geodata ; capacity strengthening and knowledge management ; gender analysis initiative ; foresight in agriculture). CIAT is the lead center of the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), which launched in December 2010.
