The ECOWAS Commission’s Directorate for Agriculture and Rural Development, with the support of FAO and the European Union, is planning a workshop to launch the regional policy dialogue process for the development of The ECOWAS regional fisheries policy and aquaculture within the framework of the Regional Agricultural Policy (ECOWAP).
The overall objective of the workshop is to launch the process of regional policy dialogue and to revitalize the Regional Committee for Fisheries and Aquaculture on the new fisheries and aquaculture agenda of the Directorate of Agriculture and Development Rural within the ECOWAS Commission with the following specific objectives:
· Information and awareness raising on the ECOWAS Commission’s new Fisheries and Aquaculture Agenda within the framework of the FISRT Program (an EU-FAO Partnership Program),
· Presentation of the process of revision of the National Fisheries Policy and Aquaculture in the ECOWAS Member States,
· Review and validation of the terms of reference of the ECOWAS Regional Committee for Fisheries and Aquaculture,
· Development of the Roadmap for the Policy Dialogue Process in the framework of the ECOWAP Regional Policy on Fisheries and Aquaculture.
