ECOWAS-WAEMU-CILSS tripartite consultation: the three regional organizations want to move forward in bringing their actions into line in West Africa 16/08/2017

As a result of tripartite consultations between the ECOWAS Commission's Agriculture, Environment and Water Resources Department and the Food Security, Agriculture, Mines and Fisheries 'Environment of the WAEMU Commission, the three institutions continue the discussions, with the facilitation of the Rural Hub, to agree on the best way to work together for a better coherence of their actions in West Africa . It is in this vein and in the spirit of the previous meetings in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) in March 2017, Brussels (Belgium) and Paris (France) in June 2017 that the Departments of the three institutions in charge of education, Agriculture, Food Security, Mines, Environment and Water Resources met in Lomé to follow up previous commitments and to continue the reflections. This consultation, which brings together the directors and experts of ECOWAS, UEMOA and CILSS, takes place from 15 to 16 August 2017 in preparation for the high-level meeting of the Commissioner for Agriculture, Environment and ECOWAS Water Resources, Food Security, Agriculture, Mines and Environment of the UEMOA Commission and the Executive Secretary of the CILSS scheduled for Thursday, August 17, 2017. These meetings aim also to improve coordination and to facilitate the convergence of bilateral and multilateral interventions. They will have the merit of proposing a strategy to harmonize the interventions of the three institutions and to take operational decisions on the joint projects and projects being implemented. These consultations will reinforce the synergies of actions of the three institutions in the various thematic areas of development of the region. August, 15 , 2017
